Teacher

My relationship with plants and life energy has pointed the way towards a role as a teacher, facilitator, collaborator and guide.

Practitioner

I love playing with plants!… and honeybees, the sea, my dogs and my children. I’m drawn to spending time hands-on in the natural world, creating and connecting, and following the flow of the seasons.

If I were a plant I would be Hawthorn, I am here to heal hearts and guide you compassionately; I’m a little scruffy, I’m humble and down-to-earth.

HOLISTIC HERBALIST

I think preparing herbal remedies, growing healing plants, and creating my medicinal garden is a love language - for myself and in service to others.

I had been looking for a more connected, purposeful outlet for my work; for 20 years I was a Landscape Architect, teaching at the University of Edinburgh and running my own not-for-profit Community Interest Company specialised in co-design. I’ve always had an interest in ‘plants with purpose’, and I realised I wanted a deeper way of working with plants:

In 2019 I undertook a ‘Herbs for Healing’ course at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, and in 2023 I expanded on this with the Scottish School of Herbal Medicine’s correspondence course in home-help Herbal Medicine.

Herbalists are students for life: I have come to know some precious mentors, both human and more-than-human.

I’m not a medical herbalist:
I am a home / folk / holistic herbalist, and it is precisely this experience which I love sharing - to make people see that this is yours! My work is about empowering and encouraging you to make herbal practices your own too.

BEEKEEPER

We’ve had 2-3 colonies of honeybees in our garden for the last 6 years. We love having them close; to really see and feel them. In the summer months there’s a thrum of activity and buzz in the air, it’s mesmerising, inspiring, and therapeutic.

I don’t keep bees primarily for their honey or wax - although I do take a small harvest of their surplus. My passion is for connection with nature and the cycle of the seasons.
